Faroese farming industry is cleaning the fjords

01.06.2018

In week 23 employees from Bakkafrost, Hiddenfjord and Marine Harvest Føroyar are going to clean the farming fjords in the Faroe Islands. A lot of PVC and other garbage is entering the fjords and the aquacultural farming industry is determined to collect and correctly dispose of this material. The first cleanup days were arranged last year in June and it's intended to be a recurrent event each year.

Hopefully, this yearly cleanup event will help creating an awareness among the Faroese population on the importance of a clean environment. The Faroese farming industry also wants to help change the general conception of environment pollution so people pick up garbage as soon as it's detected.
